This is why, we fully support the introduction of a new customer care standard, Consumer Duties by our regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority. With its implementation in 2022/23, the job of helping people with their finances should be undertaken to an even higher standard, across the financial services sector.

As a firm, we have ensured that the new consumer principle is fully integrated into what we do. We have assessed how we perform against the four outcomes – Products & Services, Price & Value, Consumer Understanding and Consumer Support.

Our products and/or services are designed to meet client’s needs, on a bespoke, individual basis. We consistently review what we do so that our products or service continues to meet our client’s needs, specific to them. The way we communicate with clients and offer advice allows them to make informed decisions.

Price and Value

We give our clients fair value services and advice to allow them the potential to achieve their financial goals. We ensure there is a balance between the overall benefit received by our client – what value they get, against the cost. This consideration includes our own charges and those of third parties such as product providers and fund managers.

Consumer understanding

We try to give our clients relevant information that is needed, in an understandable way, to make sure it is clear, fair and helpful. Our communication style and content aim to support what our client’s needs in providing advice at the right time and to allow informed decisions.

Consumer support

We provide support to our clients when they need it and in a way that gives them the potential to achieve their goals. Our support is designed to give each and every client the best chance to achieve the best outcome, irrespective of where they find themselves. For as long as we act for our client, we will help them navigate life’s ups and downs to try and put them into a strong financial position.

In essence, we provide clients with the information they need, in an understandable way, to make the right financial decision. To do so, we must be able to understand what a client wants from a specific product and service, offering fair value solutions and support. This should allow our clients to pursue their financial objectives. We must also ensure that clients are not disadvantaged and that we take account of any difficulties or vulnerabilities they have.
